The Rules of What Constitutes Quality Link Building Have Changed

The Rules of What Constitutes Quality Link Building Have ChangedBuilding links used to be so easy. All you needed to do was to find websites or blogs or forums anywhere, and comment. You could go to some synthesizer music blog, leave an irrelevant comment about how you had 20% off leather wallets at your website, and you would have a link that counted with Google. And you didn’t really have to worry about quality link building; practically everything counted, from reciprocal link exchanges to posting articles on the content mills.
Ever since Google’s Panda and Penguin updates came out at the beginning of this year though, things have been quite different. Google doesn’t just want to see lots of links to your website all over the Internet anymore (even if that is still in important to a certain degree). They want to make sure now that the people linking to you, have quality, well-respected websites. They want to make sure that no-one’s just taking advantage of the system and getting links in just about any which way. You really do need to start thinking about quality link building now – where your links come from websites that aren’t tainted or known for their jiggery-pokery. [Read more...]

Building The Best Business WebsiteAs you set about building the best business website you can, your process needs to be a little more involved than just finding the best web design firm, and then letting them do their job. It is Not That Hard to Create a Blog

It is Not That Hard to Create a Blog

A few years ago  i was looking to create a blog on mixed martial arts. I have been a fan of the sport for quite some time, and have actually watched every single UFC event and most of the Pride and other events as well. I decided that I wanted to write about my thoughts on the sport and its evolution, along with some of my favorite fighters, and make it a sort of, no pun intended, no-holds-barred blog. What I soon discovered was that it is not that hard to create a blog.

I went to a web site that allowed you to blog for a very low price, and I started writing. What I learned first and foremost about the most important ingredient to create a blog is consistency. You need to write every single day, every other day, once a week or have some type of set schedule where you are making regular posts with new subject matter. What must be remembered is that it is fresh material that is driving the readership of the blog, and that needs to be regularly nurtured.

The next thing to remember if one wants to create a blog is that the best way to build it is through word of mouth. When I created my blog, I may have had two or three hits a day when I first started, and that was mainly my family members. I started to contact my friends and ask them to check it out, and if they liked it, to let their friends know about it. I was very fortunate in that most of the people that read my blog really liked it, and wanted to keep reading it on a regular basis. At one point, I was getting more than a thousand views per day! The Rules of How to Get Website Traffic

Get Website Traffic

The Rules of How to Get Website TrafficIt isn’t easy to get website traffic come your way that is dependable and high-quality. But there are ways you can make it more probable with your own blog that you get a good supply of dependable traffic.
The first thing to do of course would be to consider writing stuff that is likely to strike a chord with people and to inspire them to share. You need to put a lot of thought into coming up with stuff like this. Thought-provoking, rabble rousing, button-pushing stuff is likely to get website traffic for you simply for the reason that people like pushing other people’s buttons. When they find an article or video like this, they’ll share those links all over the place.
When businesses try to decide where to put their advertising dollars, they will usually pick the magazines, the television programs and the venues that their target audiences typically like to congregate in. You need to do this too – your blog or website needs to be wherever your target audiences are.
No, you don’t have to buy advertising on those websites or wherever. Instead, try comment marketing to get website traffic. Go to the websites that a lot of your potential audiences like to go to, and comment on every relevant post there. Make good, thoughtful comments, and leave a link, and be regular about it.
Website success comes these days, to those who know how to network. Of course, networking in the old-fashioned way does make sense too – where you actually go to conferences and seminars where other bloggers and website owners in your niche come to. Even more importantly though, you need to be quite active on all the social networking sites. You need to establish a real presence on Twitter and put out thoughtful and interesting stuff on a regular basis. The same goes for Facebook and Google+.
Search engine optimization is great, of course. But you need to go further. You need to study what Google Analytics says about how you get your traffic. Understanding how these metrics work is a whole deal by itself. Give it some time though, and you will learn a lot about what you should pay attention to.
And finally, ever since the whole Panda and Penguin updates came to Google, the rules of search engine ranking have changed somewhat. Google believes now that websites that have commercial intent are usually more likely to invest in producing good content. And so, it’ll be to your credit if you try to openly sell something on your website. It will also work in your favor if you make your website look attractive visually. Use pictures, videos and other such stuff. You get points for that.
